Transforming intangible emotions into tangible cultural assets.
Over the past six years, the Taitung Fringe Festival has boldly reimagined mountains and oceans as backdrops, and alleyways as stages. Countless creators have left behind artistic traces across this land—moments that are impossible to replicate. Yet, performing arts are inherently ephemeral; once a performance ends, what remains is often only fragmented documentation.
The core challenge of this “Performance Retrospective” lies in how to transform these fleeting moments into enduring memories that can be preserved and revisited. This exhibition is not merely a presentation of past achievements, but also a significant reflection on six years of accumulated cultural capacity and artistic development.
Core Theme|Collecting the “Fragments of Fringe”
The concept of “fringe” is reimagined as fragments of memory. Each performance and every still image becomes a shard of memory scattered across Taitung. The exhibition invites visitors to step into the space, gather these fragments, and piece together a collective artistic map of Taitung.
Spatial Language|A Red Fringe Universe and Coordinate Navigation
Color Identity
The exhibition adopts the festival’s signature “brand red” as its primary visual tone, symbolizing the developing process of images in a darkroom, while also representing the passion and experimental spirit of the arts.Spatial Logic
A system of geographic coordinates is introduced into the exhibition design. The corridor is transformed into a treasure map, where visitors navigate the space by matching their “fragments” with corresponding landscapes and coordinates on the walls. Only through this process can the complete performance images be revealed, embodying the core spirit of the Fringe Festival—where landscape itself becomes the stage.
