The centenary evolution baseball in Taiwan has experienced numerous transitions and refinements, from the departure of the NOKO Baseball Team, the glorious expedition of the KANO Baseball Team in the Koshien (the Japanese High School Baseball Championship), to the perseverance of the Malan Baseball Team, the breathtaking miracle brought by the Hongye Elementary School, until today’s maturation of the three-tiered baseball system and professional baseball development in Taiwan. Taitung’s presence is evident in the crucial moments in every changing era of Taiwanese baseball.
The development of baseball in Taitung is not a result of resource pooling; instead, it is deeply rooted in daily practices. Through long-term cultivation in the education system and interracial, cross-generational collective efforts, baseball is beyond a competitive sport; it is a lifestyle that has tightly bound tribes, families, and schools together.
Drawing on local culture and time accumulation, the 2026 Taitung Expo reorganizes Taitung’s historical trajectory to clarify its clear, distinctive position in Taiwan. The 2026 Taitung Expo: Baseball on Red Clay Exhibition starts with baseball and looks back on its centenary journey in Taitung, inviting audiences to see how Taitung has cultivated generations of talents who keep moving forward
“2026 Taitung Expo: On the Red Clay Exhibition,” presents the core baseball exhibition of the 2026 Taitung Expo. It traces the century-long development of baseball in Taiwan, beginning from Taitung as its point of departure.
Structured around a chronological timeline and key figures, the exhibition integrates historical research with physical artifacts to highlight Taitung’s role in grassroots development, educational contexts, and international arenas.
Through a combination of static displays, interactive technology, and a series of public programs, the exhibition aims to establish a cultural platform that is educational, publicly accessible, and sustainable, while extending its impact across dual venues in Taipei and Taitung.
