Pulingau—a Paiwan term for a priest or shaman—serves as a recorder and guardian, offering balance for body, mind, and spirit, and acting as a bridge between people and the spirit world.
In Taitung, the idea of “healing” carries its own distinct symbolism and meaning. Within this context, ritual traditions play an important role, with faith sustaining the rhythms of everyday life and seasonal cycles for the Paiwan people.
Through collecting, documenting, sharing, and exchanging the voices and stories of Pulingau, the project seeks to offer a glimpse into the spiritual power of healing, guardianship, and belief.
